What if a person lived alone?
What if a person lived only with an immediate family?
What if a person lived as part of a small group?
What if a person lived in a large group or community?
Things to consider:
Basic Needs: food, water, shelter...
The Weather: Hot, cold, dry, downpour, windy, variable, tornados, hurricane,

Some general trends and ideas...
When we live alone, much energy and time is spent on survival needs
Alone is hard and competitive
Family is what we are willing to fight for, defend, support
Family has members with diverse ideas, strengths, and needs, but we are fully understanding and willing to make it work
Small groups allow for some specialization...you hunt and I'll make and keep the fire.
Small groups may still be manageable to feed, house, and tolerate
Small groups are often made with similar interests, values and beliefs...if not, they wouldn't work together
With the creation of communities comes the development of "CULTURE"
Specialized labor
Need for leadership
Large amount of food required, clothing, water
Conflict and disagreements within
Need for rules and consequences
Need for formalized values and beliefs to unify
Need to fill empty time
Need to protect from others outside, or take from others
POWER gradient (greed, wealth, control)
The BIG THEMES in society...
Contact and conflict
Spread of goods and ideas
Discovery and invention
