Rise of Islam Project!

This independent study will be both an individual and team project!

The 7 Major Themes:

Biographies of Key People

The Spread of Islam

The Golden Age of Innovation

Art and Architecture

Beliefs and Religion

Conflict/War and Empire and Political Change

Impact and Legacy of Islam

Students will be placed within ONE of these themes along with 5-7 classmates.

Each group will then assign specific projects to each group member, ensuring each student has a unique yet related individual project.

Students in the same group are encouraged to work together, when possible, because topics may overlap or connect.

RESEARCH PROJECT + PRESENTATION

This is a 2 part project! 

Research FIRST!

A. Grade 8 will require you to use class time (supplemented with work done at home) to find, read, understand, and summarize web-based readings. (NOT COPY)

B. THEN students must synthesize their summaries. That means make a NEW summary that incorporates the information from multiple sites into one new...all YOU summary!

C. THEN students organize the information into paragraphs that are more easily shared with other students (poster, powerpoint, prezi, video, etc)

Presentation SECOND!

Once the research is ALL DONE, then you can begin your presentation...the way you'll share the information.

A. Interesting: how can you share it/present it so the class doesn't fall asleep listening to your voice?

B. Informative: what are the most interesting and informative parts?

C. Memorable: a poster or powerpoint is a great start, but you'll be asked to do MORE!

D. Interactive: How can you interact with the audience or how can the audience interact with your project? Think about the ways you can stand out from all the other projects if they were side-by-side at the same time! 

What could you bring in or make to show? How could you dress? What music could accompany it? Make some food! Build some armour. Create a Kahoot or Blooket, Build a model, draw some art, make a movie, design a quiz or scavenger hunt!
