Experiences in Education

I come to Eric Langton with lots of experience in education.

I learned how to teach in a kindergarten classroom and fully expected to stay in early primary forever.

My first teaching job was Grade 3 at Laity View Elementary (1999/2000) and I loved it! I taught Grade 3-5 for 6 years as well as coached volleyball and basketball.

When SRT opened in 2005 I moved up to teaching Grade 8-11 at the new school and I loved it! I enjoyed Grade 8 Math and Science, as well as Math 9-11. I continued to coach volleyball and basketball, as well as ball hockey and football.

After 6 years of teaching high school I settled in at Glenwood Elementary School teaching in a Grade 5/6/7 multiage classroom and loved it! I continued to coach all sports. It was here that I developed my passion for assessment.

After 5 years of upper intermediate I spent a year as a district helping teacher for intermediate teachers, focusing on technology, mathematics, and teaching pedagogy, and I loved it!

Next I spent 1 year as an elementary school vice principal at Albion Elementary School, splitting my time between teaching Grade 6/7 and administration. Unfortunately, this I did not love, so chose to go back to the classroom and teaching Grade 6/7.

I spent the next 4 years at Harry Hooge Elementary School teaching Grade 6/7 and loved it! I coached all sports, as well as organized and ran the schools K-7 Lego Club.
