Last class we learned the process, today just practice! See the worksheets below!
Distributive Property
Review!
#x#
#xletter
Letter x letter
#letter x #letter
especially know integers, and - in front of brackets!
a. Simplify more complex expressions, by getting rid of brackets, then collect like terms
b. Solve more complex equations...same process...get rid of brackets, collect like terms, solve for the variable.
And the OPPOSITE of Distributive Property...Factoring.
Work backwards! (see below for practice questions!)
Easy Distributive Property (no integers)
Medium Distributive Property (with negative numbers)
Harder distributive property (with integers)
The opposite of distributive Property is factoring...finding what's hidden in both terms, and dividing it out!
Example: 14 + 28d
Think what's the BIGGEST number that divides into 14 and 28?
14 goes into both! So, let's take it out (by division)
14(1 + 2d)
Example: 2x - 3x
both terms have an x, so let's take it out of both sides!
x(2 - 3)
