Summarizing Information

For your research project, you are expected to READ a bunch of information on your topic from many different sources.

To make this your own project, you need to be able to work like Chat GPT, but without using Chat GPT (or Google AI Summary)

SO, I want you to be able to read and summarize information in your own words!

(I know...crazy, right?)

Practice with these in-class assignments...

Assignment #1 The Black Death!

We tried this one, but the results were less than I was hoping for, so now we're going to try it again.

With a partner, I want you to re-read the article. Then discuss what the MAIN IDEA of each paragraph was (write it down).

THEN write 3 key details...the most important 3!

THEN write a 1 sentence summary of paragraph 1

Repeat for paragraph 2 and 3

THEN write a 1-2 sentence summary of the ENTIRE ARTICLE using the main ideas from each paragraph.

This is what we're working towards...being able to clearly and sucinctly summarizing!

Assignment #2: The Rise of Islam

And this is what we want you to be able to answer with great detail and precision!

What's the main things to know, see and understand? THIS is the summary!

And the summary of a 2 1/2 hour movie in 5 minutes!
