Exponents and Roots

This unit explores exponents and roots. Just like addition and subtraction work as opposites, so do Powers and roots.

As we up our game and figure this out, we can add variables and ugliness:)

Multiplication and Division Re-visit!

Number x Number (review)

1. positive x positive = positive

a. 3 x 4 = 12

b. +5(3) = 15

2. positive x negative

a. (+2)(-8) = -16

b. (-3) x (+3) = -9

3. negative x negative

a. -6(-1) = 6

b. (-3)(-5) = 15

Number x Letter (always write number first)

1. 3 x r = 3r

2. q x -6 = -6q

Letter x Letter

1. a x b = ab

2. a x a = a*2
