Did you know...
1.Math can be used to describe a picture, or to make a picture?
2.When we multiply, we are creating a picture.
3.Multiplication draws a rectangle
4.Sometimes those rectangles have the same sides on all 4 sides, and we call them a square
5.Squares are created when we multiply the same number by itself!
6.There's a shorthand for this...a square sign.
Perfect Squares
Are numbers that make an exact square...
You get them by multiplying 1x1, 2x2, 3x3...etc
so the perfect squares are 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144...
Square roots are the OPPOSITE of squares...
If 5 squared is 5x5, or 25
Square roots ask...
"Ok, so you have a square with an area of 25, what are the side lengths?"
or, what number times itself equals 25?
Practice these squares and square roots...
Please don't use a calculator, you might need to guess and check!
