Algebra says we need to be OK solving for an unknown number.
We do this by learning how to look at equations and understanding what it means.
We need to know basic fractions and how to solve for the right letter.
We need to know how to move numbers and letters around the RIGHT and PROPER WAY
name the right sides of the triangle...with hypotenuse, opposite, adjacent.
for this worksheet, draw it, label it (as it is in the picture) and then give the names of the known and the unknown side...
Example: #1 the angle is x, and the 2 sides we have are 4 cm (adjacent) and 5 cm (hypotenuse)
Example #2 we have the angle of 42 degrees, and we have the adjacent side (15 yards) and we want the OPPOSITE SIDE (x)
Once you can name a triangle's sides based on the angle being used, then we can practice using
SOH-CAH-TOA
STEPS:
KNOW the angle being used
LABEL the sides (opposite, adjacent, hypotenuse)
FIND what you HAVE and what you NEED
PICK the right TRIG function
WRITE out the formula
REPLACE with the numbers
SOLVE! with calculator!
Practice!
