Tuesday, February 10: Review of Matrices, Practice Test
What will be on the test?
adding matrices (w/o calc)
multiplying by a scalar (w/o calc)
what matrix dimensions are needed to add? to multiply? (w/o calc)
finding the determinant of a 2x2, 3x3 (w/o calc)
solving systems of equations four different ways: substitution, elimination, inverse matrix, Cramer's rule (w/o calc)
Cramer's rule for a 3x3 (w/o calc)
a linear programming problem (calc -- on Friday)
creating a system of equation from a word problem (calc -- on Friday)
Homework: study study study! You can email me with questions. You can talk to friends. You can talk to enemies, though they may lie to you. Get yourself ready for this test! Woo!
Wednesday, February 11: Non-Calculator Test on Matrices
You got this. You've been planning for it forever. You've done your studying; you've gone over notes. You've redone mat problems. You've gotten yourself to the p.ace where you are READY. So ready. So relax, take a deep breath and attack.
It's important to remember that you are at your best when you are relaxed and ready to roll with the punches. You may not know every problem, so focus first on the ones you do. then the ones you are less confident about, but have a good idea of what you should be doing. finally, try to attack the ones you do not; it's all about grinding out what extra points there are.
Thursday, February 12: Review on Calculator Matrix Test
We will solve some systems of equations, set ourselves up for using various methods, and practice some more linear programming and word problems.
Friday, February 13: Calculator Matrix and Linear Programming Test
Start the day before break off right! What's more fun that showing what you know and doing it all with aplomb and vigor.
