These questions are to check to make sure you remember what we are doing and how we are doing it. You have 45 minutes. These questions DO NOT need to be answered in normal data set form. Make sure you pay attention to what information I ask for.

a) Does this data appear fairly normal? Explain how you know.
b) Give the five number summary, the range, the IQR, and the mean
c) Using the 2*sd method, give me our suspected outlier thresholds.
d) Are there any suspected outliers? [If there are, in this case, we're going to leave everything]
e) 2012 had a monsoon rainfall of 890 mm. What would be the z-score of that value?
f) What percent of years will have a rainfall below 890 mm?
Question Two: Examine the possibilities
There are two exams to test mathematical ability when entering into college.
Test A is N(80, 20).
Test B is N(90, 10)
Trying to show off your mathematical knowledge, you take both exams. You score a 115 on test A and a 105 on Test B.
a) Which test has a better Z-score for you?
b) What percentile does each score place you at (i.e. what percent of people did you do better than)?
Question 3: Winning at baseball.
Baseball teams play 162 games, and the number of games they win is N(81, 8).
a) What percent of teams wach year should win between 90 and 95 games?
b) The Detroit Tigers won 88 games last year. What is their percentile?
c) The Houston Astros won 55 games last year. What is their percentile?
