The process of today into tomorrow:
1) You will get a packet of all the surveys that were turned in to me. If you did not turn in a survey, you will attach yourself to a group when discussing the results.
2) FOR EACH SURVEY:
take the survey -- fill out all pieces of the survey as accurately as possible.
comment on the survey -- are there thing you would have done or written differently? would you have used different wordings? are there formatting pieces that you would have changed?
pull apart the surveys and place them into the piles at the front of the room.
3) for your survey:
tally the results for each question -- make this in a way that you will be able to use the results.
for each question:
is the question quantitative or qualitative?
based upon the results, what type of visual would you use to show this information
based upon the results, make one statement about the class that ou have learned from the information
answer the following questions as a group (write them down somewhere):
If you had to get rid of one question on your survey, which one would it be and why?
For each question you asked, are there any changes you would make based upon the comments you received back?
If you had to use one question from another survey, what would it have been and why?
Do you think your survey accurately answers the questions we set out to answer? Give a brief answer to each of these questions, using the questions asked in your survey.
Is learning happening in this course?
Lectures/work done in class successful?
How can course be improved for future.
make a sketch of a dashboard
a dashboard is a single piece of paper that will contain ALL of the information you have gathered. For each piece of information, it should have a graph and a one sentence explanation of what information should be obvious from that data. This is what statisticians are often asked to make--YOU do all the hard work with the numbers and THEY ask you to make it simple and obvious what should be done.
write a brief paragraph
the paragraph should make comments about the class that you have gleaned from your survey. You may make observations about the information, extrapolate about what changes need to be made in the class, or even make recommendations for changes in the class--as long as you back it up with your data. this may overlap with the answers you provided previously.
if you were to write this survey again, what would it look like?
create the 7 questions you would ask if you had to do it again. We will use these as part of our assignment tomorrow.
