Hello again, y'all. For you, I've gone and created a nice list of things that you should be able to do on your midterm. This is not a list of EVERYTHING that will be on the midterm. There can be other things.
So here's what I'm going to do. Here's a list:
write out r code to do the basic things we've done
make a plot
make a histogram
make a summary of the data
find Z and P scores
find a z-score by hand
find a p-score by hand (using a table)
be able to compare z- and p- scores.
percentages to the right and the left and how to find those
normal curves and distribution curve
what does the mean and the standard deviation describe
find the mean, median and mode on a distribution curve
find outliers
what method do you use, and when, and why, and what does an outlier do to make our lives terrible, and when should you remove and outlier and when should you keep an outlier.
whew. that was a big bullet point. but remember, this is important. and can't be contained in a simple idea--it's what the entire course has been built upon thus far.
create plots
make a box plot by hand
make a histogram by hand
make a bar plot by hand (what's the difference?!)
Here's an idea! Go back to your old data sets...which questions match up with what I'm talking about here? Could you answer them if they were on a test? I'll add some here as they days go by, but this should be a good start.
