* Types of numbers, where they came from, and why we care (history lesson)
* The solving of fractions (mixing problems, why division and multiplication work they way they do)
* Creation and solving of equations (both with and without numbers). The patterns that evolve thereof. Why we want an abstract tool for a concrete object
* Quadratic Equations and why we need them and what they mean
* Maximization, minimization problems (hands on, difficult)
* Basic statistics, how to read a paper without caring about the details (what the heck is a p value, and why do we care)
* Sequences and series (summation notation)
* circular functions (sin, cos, tan)
* the 'game' of trigonometric functions
