Stanley & Tom Jones were brothers
Recollections-
One Sunday evening Stanley Jones tried to persuade other young men to enlist with him and, sadly, succeeded with his younger brother Tom who was under age for enlistment in the army but neverthless signed on. They were both in the same unit, and Stanley was killed on September 30th 1915, and his brother Tom, almost a month later, on 22 October 1915.
The tragedy caused a little confusion and inacurate reports were published, unfortunatly, these claimed that the brothers were killed on the same day, which later proved to be unfounded. This information is being shared, so that the local records are corrected.
Their names are recorded, together with the names of others who gave their lives, on the Roll of Honour in Murton Chapel.
1901 census found them living at Parkmill, father Samuel Jones born in Swansea in 1870.
