Alfred DAVIES

Research had proposed several canditates, but without result: -

An unlikely canditate, due to his age, as his mother was born in 1929, is a soldier who also served in the Battalion during the First World War and who otherwhise fitted the details given.

Alfred DAVIES, Private, ‘Swansea Pals' 14th Service Battalion, Welsh Regiment,

Son of John Davies, (and wife Elizabeth) Market Gardener, Mayals Green Cottages

They appear in 1881 and 1891 but don’t appear to have had a son named Alfred.

John DAVIES was b Killay 1832 and Elizabeth b 1829 Killay. Her age means Alfred would have been older than the young man in his twenties in the photo.

Several other candidates have been suggested, including:-

Alfred DAVES from Bishopston Parish, but he is not listed on their memorial and the Bishopston man on the back left in this photo named, Alfred DAVIES, does not look like the young man in the photo further above, from Mayals.
