Commemorating our six casualties at Passchendale

COMMEMORATING 100 YEARS

31st July 2017 marks the Centenary of the

beginning of what became known as the Third Battle of Passchendaele

Here we commemorate the six Mumbles Great War Casualties of that battle, which lasted from 31st July until 10 November 1917

Stretcher bearers struggle in mud up to their knees to carry a wounded man to safety near Boesinghe and the look of agonised desperation on the men's faces has made this image a favourite choice to indicate the appalling conditions on the Western Front.
