Follow the Obituary Format. Look at examples in the newspaper.
Eulogy: A Eulogy is a speech given at a person’s funeral or memorial service. It is meant to honor the deceased person and comfort the survivors. Journal/Diary Entries: These pieces are written in the first person and reflect the thoughts and feelings of the writer. Though they often reflect on everyday matters, they will focus on important events or decisions for this paper. Think about: What are some thoughts the subject might have had as he/she dealt with challenges in his/her life. Try to put yourself “in his/her shoes”.
Letters: These are similar to the journals but involve communication with another person. Letters will have a focus similar to the journals, but you will also need to consider the relationship of your subject to the person to whom the letter is addressed. Think about: A person who is important to the subject. With whom would your subject want to communicate his/her feelings and/or concerns.

News Article: This piece is a factual account of an important event in your subject’s life. Read several newspaper articles to familiarize yourself with the format. Think about: What would the people of the time consider important and newsworthy? What details are important to include?
Newscast: Though radio and TV did not exist during several of these time periods, you can still imagine how an event would be reported “over the wire”. Think about: How do news anchors deliver information about important events? What would be an important event to report concerning your subject? What details are important?
