News Article
Think about how your subject might be in the news.
Format:
Make a 1 x 2 or 1 x 3 table. These will serve as your columns.
Write the title as a header above the table. Put the name of the paper and the date at the top.
Write author name and name of employer at the top of column 1(standard alignment).
For the article:
Single line space, 12 or 14 pt
Times or Times New Roman
Set alignment for straight columns (last one on right for Google Docs)
Begin with dateline (place of story) in all capital letters.
Style:
Write in third person.
Stay focused on the subject, brief and to the point.
Make sure each paragraph does its job.
Give all the needed information so the piece makes sense.
Be sure to tell who, what, where, and when. You might have a how as well.
Diary/Journal entry
This is a reflective piece where you share your thouthts on your subject.
Think about what you learned and/or what surprised you.
You might write about the importance of your subject.
You might reflect on who would benefit from this information.
This piece must be at least three ¶'s long.
You will have the date at the top.
Address this to Dear Diary or label it “Journal Entry”.
Letter related to your subject.
Write a letter to someone you know who would appreciate knowing about your subject. Tell them about your subject.
This piece must be at least three ¶'s long.
You will have the date at the top.
Follow letter format including a greeting and a salutation.
Four Panel Cartoon
This is a series of four pictures with captions and/or explanations.
The cartoon would be similar to what you see in the newspaper showing some apect of your subject.
You must include speech ballons.
Pictures may be self-drawn or created with a computer program. NO copy and paste. You many not copy known cartoon characters.
Interview With a Scientist
Think of a scientist or other important person related to your subject.
Think of at least 10 questions you might ask this person How would they respond? Use the information you have about your subject to develop the responses.
The point is to consider your subject from the perspective of a scientist or expert who is involved in your subject.

Draw a diagram of your subject or an important aspect of your subject Label the parts of the diagram.
