You will must meet with your group at least four times and have a discussion each time.
Decide as a group which pages/chapters to read.
Preparing for Discussion
Each member of the group must write the following on lined paper.
Name:
Two discussion questions (Make sure these questions encourage your group to talk about the book not just look for information.)
Copy a passage that stands out to the member and write the reason why it stands out.
Include page and paragraph number.
List any words which are unfamiliar or used in unusual ways. Note page and paragraph number.
Having your discussion
Once the assignment has been read, you will use your papers to have a discussion. Each student acts as the recorder when sharing his or her work.
1. Decide who will go first.
2. Discuss responses to all questions first.
3. Next take turns sharing passages and commenting on them.
4. Then work work with any words that have been listed. Use a dictionary to help understand words if you need.
5. Decide on your next reading assignment.
