Imagery
Write a poem about a place that is familiar to you. Focus on this one place. Try to describe it using all your senses. If you can't remember all the details, start with what is clear in your mind and invent the rest. Make your poem at least 10 lines long.
Extended Metaphor Poem
Choose a subject for your poem. You might think of an emotion, an event, or a natural phenomenon. You can use other ideas for subjects as well. Make a list of three points of comparison between the two things. Use these points to write your poem. Remember, do not use "like" or "as" in a metaphor. Make your poem at least 10 lines long.
