Abbreviated DamDiv. (So as to not be confused with Difficulty Dice).
The Damage Divisor is used to convert the difference in some action or task that caused damage to a player into a numerical value representing either a penalty to action, or a reduction in actual Core Dice.
It is calculated as Dice+Stat.
For physical damage it is Dice+EN+SZ. For mental damage it is Dice+WP. For emotional damage it is Dice+CO.
By default, all damage reduces the core Dice.
RCM’s and guest stars, however, can elect to lose points from Stats instead. For physical damage, they can elect to take a penalty to any physical Stat (ST, DX or EN). For mental damage they can choose from IQ, WP or PE. For emotional damage they can choose from CO, CH, or MA. No Stat can be reduced below –3. If all of the relevant Stats are at –3, they have no choice but to lose Dice.
This is the exclusive privilege of RCM’s and G*’s. Extras lose Dice – and that’s it.
It should be noted that damage assigned to Stats heals more slowly than regular Core Dice damage.
Typically, only the Damage Divisor for physical damage is listed on the Character Treatment, as this is by far the most common sort of damage.
