@ Simon Lévelt specialty store in Tilburg
( not sponsored link ) My visit to the coffee and tea specialty store was a coincidence. I stepped inside to ask questions about the old café press system. On the right you see my coffee cups called café press. My parents got this set in 1968 as engagement gift. In 1990, with their divorce I got them. Coffee in the upper part, the filter. Pour boiling water on top of it. Close it with the lid where you can hang a spoon. Way back, you got coffee served this way when on a terrace in Belgium, Europe. You decide - to influence temperature - when you pick up the lid and lay it upside down on the table. Here you put on the drained filter.
Owner Michael Neerincx and i talked about this system, in his shop with luxury coffee machines, copper kettles and old-fashioned big grocery cupboards for many types of coffee and tea. Unfortunately, he did not sell this simple and given the divorce of my parents war-proof set. I decided to buy two simple teas, jasmine and lavender maté. They are both biological and smell delicious. I think they're both very flavorful and light, not too overbearing or strong. The lavender / maté ( also known as yerba mate, chimarrão or cimarrón ) gives - according to package - a "fresh and exciting" drink. Indeed halfway the cup i was already so peaceful that you almost forget to drink. I think that's why, they put some maté in there to keep you awake (joke). Maté can hold over 20 minerals, over 10 amino and over 10 polyphenols. It could work blood purifying, fat degrading and energizing. But i needed to relax ?. Right. I do not know how much lavender oil is in these bags but lavender can work nerve sedative, hypotensive, mucus solving, inflammatory and analgesic. Just the smell of the green jasmine is already enough - according to the packaging - to make you "relaxing and pleasantly refreshing". Well the taste is even better. In the distance, it is sweet indeed and when taking it even slightly bitter, but certainly leaves a fresh, clean feeling in the mouth. I know nothing about the actual content but jasmine can be used as a painkiller. In leaves of jasmine is salicylic acid which is in some aspirin.
Later on i made a pot of tea with jasmine AND Lavender Maté. I've never been so stoned by tea (without sugar). Well...
