Mandatory Informal Care
update april 8
(opinion/blog) City of Tilburg the Netherlands - The building where I live has three floors, eleven residents, ten rooms, three toilets, two showers and a kitchen. My landlord sent a letter to all 10 room tenants yesterday. In this, he states, quote: " because of corona, only 1 visitor is allowed in the room. Otherwise homeowner is obliged to inform police and enforcement. The fine is € 500,- " end quote. Hm, rooms are on average 15/16 square meters. If I put a chair in every corner, distance between them is 3 meters. Waiting for answer from police and municipality. In the same letter, not a single word, about the continuously disturbed night's, harassment, or, most important, that no one is cleaning anything, in the building. Homeowner is aware that past 4 years, I 've been cleaning stairs, and toilet, shower and hall on my floor. Usually mess of others. He knows my registered profession is Nurse - municipal medical and health service, that my disease is inflammatory, that I am 100% rejected for work and job applications. Right.
Afterwards you can always say: I did not know..
Well, what have we learned from this story ?. If something happens, somewhere, just look the other way.
As he walks up the stairs, he grabs every step, with his greasy hands, while he also walks dog shit into the building, right up to his room door. Later he walks through it again, on his socks, or bare feet. The 60 year old man has diabetes and congenital brain damage. Mental health care from municipality has already been on his doorstep 6 times, but the man simply just doesn't open his door.
Meanwhile, this is how 1 of the 3 communal toilets is left daily, even several times. Traces of all sort, but underwear ?. He washes his clothes in his room, does not wring it out properly and dries it on a rack. His underpants are in a state of decomposition. In past years, I asked homeowner - who regularly helps this man - if he could buy new underpants for this man. The man pees in his room, in the sink, or in a bucket, which he empties next evening. He always leaves the same 'mark' on the back of the seat, I find splashes everywhere and 'residue' in the toilet brush. When he goes to the toilet once, he loses a lot of his pubic hair cause he does not shower, or wash his hands. He goes to the toilet 6 x p/day or, sometimes every hour, for a "big" dump. He doesn't follow his hospital diet, eats too much chips and sometimes booze.
