June 2003 - Just a Monday afternoon. We have been to Albert Cuyp market in Amsterdam, where we bought French cheeses. Back to Central station with tram. We are at the rear end ( A ) when Anja entered, a fragile 45 year old woman, with her two good looking german shepherds. She looks and sees no room to sit. She stands in the luggage compartment. Immediately a few foreign looking students doing weird, started wishpering, talking silly. In the back of the tram we heard one of the guys say; ,, JUNK ". She turns around, with fire in her eyes. and tears behind the eyes, she says ; I'm not junk, I do use drugs, I have AIDS. She turns again, with her back towards the young bullies. One of the 16 years old teenagers ( B ) jumped up with a wushu similar move, and pushed ( C ) her over. ( D ) On top of one of her dogs, she is saying something but it is drowned by my thunderous army trained shouting; stop, act normal ! The driver heard it. A woman next to me said; dont do it, dont interfere, they will stab you. It was striking that there were 30 people in the tram and nobody did or said something. nor the parties directly in the vicinity of the event. The incident stops here. The driver allowes Anja and her dogs out early. Teenagers start to use their cellphones, we deceide to get of the tram one stop for Central.

" The case Anja Joos "
What happened months after the incident.
months after this we come home after a hard day's work. While preparing dinner we turned the TV on. There comes a profile picture of a victim in AT5, the local news in amsterdam. We are focusing on the next round, and see the woman who we earlier helped. She appears to be kicked death. She was 43 and the 5, 6 or 7 attackers were 16, 17 and 18. The incident is afterwards well known, and some even promoted on the studying they did on this case.
This case made it possible to judge a group for the total sum of result withouth making separate distinction in jail penalties.
Sounds almost not human, Makes you wonder about world war II, Oke, I am drifting. Anja Joos and her friends were well known in the center of Amsterdam and drugs-scene due little public disturbances, shouting and other drunk or social maladjustment. Her friends told on t.v. they were bullied by the same group for long time. One thing led to another. ' Other people ' reported and / or testified against these same boy's about those incidents, incl. looking in photobooks of the supposed to be offenders. Some of the group were jailed for a couple of months and one or two got a few years.
I helped family and people since my youth, anyway, anyhow, always and even professional as army medic - ambulance worker. This incident turned my world. Or my bucket went over the edge. 20 years before this i started training aikido and on saving lives. Also i gave the trainings to others. We did major disaster exercises. with ( supposedly ) tens to hundreds of practice-injured. When in public situations and accidents, you need to have a quick overview, while doing your job as a livesaver, ask people for help, or sometimes even command them to act or move aside. Among hundreds of cases, intervention in public, domestic violence, suicides, accidents and overdosses with drugs or booze, i never imagined there would be another one, as this case, feeling so unfinished. not properly handled and unreal. But this one did. I remember.
You remeber me too Anja ?
