- CIA World Factbook - an important resource, but quite detailed.
- BBC Country Profiles - This has overviews of each country, but also includes some information on the current government leaders, the media (newspapers, TV, radio), a nice historical timeline, and links to current news stories. Note: This includes Puerto Rico.
