Wikispaces Instructions
Posting Your Paragraph on 7 Gold Wikispaces
Only the people on your team will be able to see these!
Go to the 7 Gold Wikispaces page at http://briscoe7gold.wikispaces.com/
There is a link on the Briscoe Library Media Center page
Log in
Your username is your regular computer username with 7gold at the end
For example, if your name is John Smith, your username will be smithjoh7gold
Your password is the same as your computer password
Exception: if your password has moe in it, type morris instead!
For example, if your regular password is moe#3, for wikispaces it is morris#3
Click on New Page in the top navigation bar
The Make a New Page dialog box comes up
Under page name, type name of the person you are writing about followed by your initials. Capitalize the names and the initials!
Example: If I profiled Neil Armstrong, I would type Neil Armstrong AW because my initials are AW.
In the Add Tags box, type your ELA block.
Example: If you have English during C, type c block
Click Create
If you are copying from a document on the network or another location, open it up.
Select all the text – shortcut: press the Ctrl key and A
Copy all the text – shortcut: press the Ctrl key and C
Toggle back to the blank Wikispaces page
Click on the Wikispaces page
Paste in your text – shortcut: press Ctrl key and V or right click and choose paste
· If your text is looking funny, you can copy and paste it first into Notepad – go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Notepad – then copy and paste it from there into Wikispaces
You can also just type your paragraph right into the Wikispaces page.
Go through the checklist:
q Title at the top of the page. You may want to select the text and use the style list to make it Heading 1 style.
q The word by and your full name name after the title at the top of the page. You may want to select the text and use the style list to make it Heading 3 style.
q The rest of the text should be Normal style.
q Make sure it looks the way you want it.
Commenting on other people’s paragraphs in Wikispaces
Go to the 7 Gold Wikispaces page at http://briscoe7gold.wikispaces.com/
Log in (if you are not already logged in)
Your username is your regular computer username with 7gold at the end

You should now be at the home page for the 7 Gold Wikispace
Look in the navigation bar on the right side.
Under each block, you will see a list of the essays people have posted.
Click on a link for an essay to read it.
You need to find at least 3 paragraphs to read and then post thoughtful comments. Mrs. Pasquarelli has guidelines for you. If you post anything inappropriate, it will be deleted and you will receive a 0 for this portion of your grade.
Look first for paragraphs that have fewer than 5 comments already posted.
Once you have read a story and are ready to post a comment:
Click the Discussion tab.
If you are the first person to post a discussion on this page:
q click on New Post.
q Enter in a subject in that box
type your message in the message box -- Watch your spelling and grammar!
q Click Post
If someone already posted a comment:
q click on the link for that post
q change the subject if you like
q type your message in the reply
q Click post when you are done.
Don’t worry about the fact that you may not be technically “replying” to the earlier post.
