- Salem Sound Coastwatch - on August 29, 2015 there will be a charity open-water swim in the Salem Sound, right off Beverly, called Swim & Fin. Last year more than 200 people participated in 500m, 1 mile, and 5K swims.
- Diana Nyad is another famous open-water swimmer. She swam from Cuba to Florida a couple of years ago.
