This 132-page ibico-bound 8-1/2" x 11" book tells about the life of Johann "John" Wankerl and his wife Bertha Beer. John Wankerl, born in 1888 in Pemfling, Kreis Cham, Bavaria, Germany, was the son of Josef Wankerl and Katharina Ederer, also born in Pemfling. John emigrated to America in 1914 and farmed in Sauk County, Wisconsin. There he met his bride, Bertha Beer, and they were married in 1919 at Plain, Sauk County, Wisconsin. Bertha, born in 1899 in Franklin Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin, was the daughter of German immigrants Alois Beer (born in Staunerhöf, Kreis Cham, Bavaria, Germany) and Walburga Paulus (born in Löwendorf, Kreis Cham, Bavaria, Germany). 

The book has many color and black and white photos, German documents translated to English, translation of Pemfling's St. Andreas church booklet, old and new pictures of Pemfling and the Wankerl home farms (Germany and Wisconsin), maps, family photos, prayer cards, tombstone photos, German military photos and post cards, German ID card (Personalausweis), German passport (Reise Pass), World War I Personnel Rosters from Bavaria (Kriegsranglisten und -stammrollen des Königreichs Bayern, 1.
