page 32, 35:

One of the first ordinances issued by Bishop Heiss was the transfer of the Rev. Wendolin Bernard from Sauk City to Cazenovia as the first resident pastor of St. Anthony's parish. . .

Father Bernard moved here in the fall of 1868 . . .

Rev. Bernard entered upon his new duty with zeal and energy, and harvested splendid results. As the baptismal records show, he attended his missions very regularly, putting up with a great many inconveniences, as in the early days the accommodations, though cheerfully given, were somewhat primitive. Mr. Conrad Ruskauff took Father Bernard to his missions, as he himself knew not how to manage a team.

At home father Bernard made many improvements to embellish and beautify the little church. He bought the stations of the Cross (donated by Mr. C. Ruskauff), a statue of the Bl. Virgin Mary (donated by Mr. Wm. Duren), a statue of St. Joseph their patron saint), and continued to advance the conditions of the church property.

page 60:

The windows in the church were of common glass. Not at once, but by and by, these were replaced by art-glass windows, which greatly improved the appearance of the church. These art-glass windows were donated as follows: Two by the Altar Society; three by Mr. Wm. Duren; one each in memory of Rev. H. Grosse, Rev. Theo. Beau, Rev. W. Bernard, which windows were bought by special collections; one in memory of John Roy; one in memory of C. and El. Ruskauff, donated by their children. The windows were bought of the Oshkosh Art Glass Co. at a total cost of $595.14.

page 71:

In the spring of the same year [1903] the remaining art glass windows were put into the church at a cost of $185.34. One was donated by the Ruskauff family in memory of their parents; the others were bought by the congregation, one of these in memory of Rev. Grosse.
