This has been dubbed the "mother-of-all-cookbooks!" The original was spiral-bound with over 279 pages comprised of over 500 recipes submitted by Lehner relatives with roots in the Plain and Franklin Township area of Sauk County, Wisconsin. Check out the 9-page index: click here

Following is a sample of the many delicious recipes found in the book. Left to right: Chocolate Tarts page 156; Cherry Cake page 138; Peanut Blossom Cookies page 152, Chocolate Popcorn page 10.

Besides tons of recipes and helpful cooking tips, the cookbook has maps, photos, family history, genealogy information and descendant lists. The descendant list is only available to Lehner relatives.

Bavarian recipes from the "Old Country" will have you smacking your lips over such delights as Liver Dumpling Soup, Krautwickel, Wiener Schnitzel, Maultaschen, Pichelsteiner, Kartoffelknödeln, Sulz, Ring Bologna, Schmarrn, and Merie's Famous Coffeecake - just like Grandma used to make!

From the Foreword: "This cookbook is dedicated to our grandparents, Bartl & Frances Sturm Lehner. Bartl was born October 22, 1866, in Schömersdorf, Bavaria, Germany, the son of Georg & Theres Dirnberger Lehner. Frances was born January 4, 1865, in Braunsried, Bavaria, Germany, the daughter of Andreas Pierzl & Barbara Sturm. St. Lambert's Catholic Church in Teunz, a village near Schömersdorf, registered the marriages and baptisms of many of the Lehner family. . ."

Tips for printing from the PDF for your own personal use

* Please print only one copy if you have paid for one PDF

* Please do not share the PDF with others

  1. Take the PDF to a copy store

  2. Print the numbered pages back to back

  3. The book has divider pages which are not numbered

  4. Print the divider pages on thicker paper at each of the different sections

    1. For instance, after page vi and before page 1 is a section break called "For Your Information" followed by a table of contents for that section

  5. Print those two pages back to back on thicker paper and add a tab

  6. The next break would be after page 8 and before 9 and is called "Appetizers, Snacks, Beverages"; and so on

  7. Ask to have the book bound using ibico binding so that the pages will lay flat when opened

  8. Consider laminating the front and back covers
