To the Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the United States, in and for the district aforesaid.

The Petition of Conrad Ruscuff of Allegheny County

Humbly Sheweth, That your petitioner is a native of Germany and was heretofore a subject of the King of Hanover, that he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States of America Five Years and within the State of Pennsylvania one year, and that two years prior to this application, that is to say, on the 24th July 1848 your petitioner declared his intention of becoming a citizen of the United States, in the manner required by law, as in and by the certificate of the then Clerk of the Court of Quarter Sessions of Allegheny County appears; That he will support the Constitution of the United States, and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and forever abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate and sovereignty, whatever, and particularly to the King of Hanover whereof he was heretofore a subject. Your petitioner therefore prays that he may be admitted to become a citizen of the United States of America.

I, Conrad Ruscuff do swear that the facts set forth in this my petition are true, and that I will support the constitution of the United States, and that I do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate and sovereignty whatever, and particularly do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure forever all allegiance and fidelity to the King of Hanover whereof I was heretofore a subject.

John M. Freker do swear, that the petitioner Conrad Ruscuff has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States of America five years, and within the State of Pennsylvania one year; that is to say, he, the said Conrad has residence in the County of Allegheny

all of which places are within and under the constitution of the United States--and that during his residence within the United States, he has behaved as a man of good moral character attached to the constitution of the United States and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.

I, John Young, Jr., Clerk of the Court of Quarter Sessions of Allegheny County, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, do by these presents certify, that on Monday the twenty fourth day of July in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty eight

Conrad Ruscuff a native of Germany

and heretofore a subject of the King of Hannover

came before me, and having been duly sworn according to law, made his declaration, stating

that it was bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and renouncing and abjuring all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty

whatever, and particularly renouncing and abjuring all allegiance and fidelity to the King of Hannover

whereof he was a former subject.

In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court, at Pittsburgh, this twenty fourth day of July Anno Domini, 1848 and of the Independence of the United States, the seventy third.
