I, Bartle Lehner do swear, that I believe in and am not apposed to organized government, that I am not a member of, or affiliated with any organization entertaining and teaching disbelief in, or opposition to all organized government; and that I have not heretofore and do not now, advocate or teach, or believe in the duty, necessity or propriety of the unlawful assaulting or killing of any officer or officers, either of specific individuals, or of officers generally, of the government of the United States, or of any other organized government, because of his or their official character; that I have not violated any of the provisions of an act of the Congress of the United States, entitled "An Act to regulate the Immigration of Aliens into the United States," approved March 3d, 1903, and further that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America, and that I do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure forever, all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign power, Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to the Emperor of Germany who subject I was, and further that I have never borne any hereditary title, or been of any of the degrees of nobility of the country whereof I have been a subject, and that I have resided within the United States for five years last past, and in the State of Wisconsin for one year last past.

Philip Bettinger and Ed. Frank being severally sworn, do depose and say, each for himself, that he has been well acquainted with the above named Bartle Lehner for more than five years past; that during all of said period the said Bartle Lehner has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States, and for one year last past within the State of Wisconsin; and that during the same period he has behaved himself as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same; that during the said period he has not been a member of, or affiliated with, any organization entertaining and teaching disbelief in, or opposition to, organized government, that he has not advocated or taught the duty, necessity or propriety, of the unlawful assaulting or killing of any officer, or officers, either of specific individuals or officers generally, of the government to the United States or of any other organized government, because of his or their official character; that he has not during said period violated any of the provisions of an act of the congress of the United States, entitled "An Act to Regulate the Immigration of Aliens into the Unites States," approved March 3d, 1903.

And Now, To-wit, At a session of said Court now being held at Madison, in and for the County of Dane, in said State, the oath an affidavit required by an act of the Congress of the United States, entitled, "An Act to Regulate the Immigration of Aliens into the Unites States," approved March 3d, 1903, having heretofore been made and recorded upon the Records of this Court, upon said oath and affidavit and upon further proof having been made by the production of a certificate that the said Bartle Lehner did, before a Clerk of the Circuit Court of Iowa Co. Wis the same being a court of record, having common law jurisdiction, make the requisite declaration of his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce all other allegiance, as required by the laws of the United States; it is ordered by the Court that the said Bartle Lehner be and he is hereby admitted to be, a Citizen of the United States.

Before the Clerk of the Circuit Court of said County, appeared Bartle Lehner a native of Germany, aged about 22 years, who being sworn upon his oath, declares that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Power, Prince, State, and Sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly to the Emperor of Germany of which he is at present a subject.
