Subtraction sentence - a number sentence with two or more numbers, a minus sign (-) and equal sign (=)
Break apart - we break apart numbers to show subtraction
Operation - the operation tells us what to do with the numbers. Addition and subtraction are types of operations.

deck of cards
Using a deck of cards, pull out all the cards with the numbers 1 to 9. Split the deck in half. Give one-half to each player. Each player flips over 2 cards at a time. Each player subtracts the cards. The player with the smaller sum wins all the cards. Keep playing until one player has all the cards.
