In this topic, students will:
use the multiplication table and the Distributive Property to find patterns in factors and products
use number sense and reasoning while practicing multiplication and division basic facts
use strategies such as skip counting and properties of operations to multiply
solve multiplication and division problems that involve different strategies and representations
use multiplication and division to write and solve real-world problem involving equal groups
At-home Practice:
Supplies
a deck of cards (remove face cards)
Divide the cards evenly among the players. Each player turns over 3 cards. The first player who identifies a division fact with the cards on the table win the cards. (Ex. The players flip over 3, 10, 5, 2, 7, and 8. Player 1 says: “10 divided by 5 equals 2!”.) If no player identifies a division, all players turn over new cards. The player to collect all of the cards wins the game.
