For my capstone project, I have decided to take on a branding project and team up with a 3D modeler friend to create the Cafe modelled in Blender using Unreal for the rendering. And here is the story...
Transformed from an old abandoned Victorian building, Le Rêve Cafe & Books is a Cafe and Bookstore located amongst the beautiful trees of Western Australia. It is inspired by Victorian & Rococo interiors with a generous touch of frondescence, an elegant space to instantly bring you to a state of serenity.
A dream born from a hopeful French couple who sadly passed and since then their daughters took on the journey of creating the perfect reality of "The Dream" or as they
say it, Le Rêve.

This is the Gazebo, overlooking the beautiful lake. Take a seat and take in the nature around!
floor Sunroom- A room filled with sunlight, perfect for a hearty breakfast or a light brunch with a loved one.
Formal Dining- A royal setting perfect for fancy celebrations or just a fancy meal!
Outdoor Dining- An outdoor area coiled in plants and vines, perfect for a late afternoon tea while breathing the fresh air.
Book Room- This is the space where one can reconnect with themselves, have a "me" time reading works from their favourite authors.
The logo inspiration came from Barouque Monograms (2 on the left) and works from Marian Bantjes (2 on the right)
These were some of the early concept sketches. The idea was to make the letter 'R' unique and extended.
Placed in a circle like an emblem
Ligatures were slightly refined, however, this is not the final version
Decided to create a second condensed version in case the whole words became hard to read in small areas
The initial branding uses lots of gold and dark rich colours to portray an expensive and serious brand.
Initial Collateral Elements
Initial Coffee Packs
The change in the Brand happened here. Some time during the trimester, I found that the dark blue colour felt like it will be more appropriate for a night restaurant type setting. The colour did not line up with the purpose of the cafe. Hence, I felt the need to re-brand and change the colour scheme. The light blue-green was used instead as it had more of a fresh, day time feeling as opposed to the dark rich blue. With that, floral line art was also created to enhance the feeling of elegance
The beginning of the previsualisations was made in The Sims 4. This was a quick way to build and capture the feeling of the Cafe. It was never meant to be used as the final previsualisation, only as a rough concept sent to the 3D modeler for reference.
These were the early stages of the Cafe in Unreal.
These were the notes sent to my 3D modeler, giving him an idea for how the space will the curated.
This was the stage where the Cafe finally started to emulate the vision
