Hope sick is a short film is about a drug addict, Eve, who in the opening scene goes to buy more heroine, and her dealer (Slinky) gives her a far more refined product than she is used to taking, and she overdoses. She is taken in by a devout christian man (Adam) who she thinks has kidnapped her and is torturing and abusing her. She eventually wakes up and is in control enough to get up and attack Adam with a broken plate, and escape. As she exits the building, she realises that Adam was actually detoxing her and bringing her back to health, and she rushed back in and stops him from bleeding out. The closing shot shows both Eve and Adam alive and well, with Slinky still stuck bitterly dealing drugs.
Hi, I'm Matthew Skinner. I am currently 19 and I am studying for my Bachelor of Audio. My experience in the field of audio so far mostly consists of writing, playing and performing music, with the occasional recording I'd make on my laptop. I have chosen to enrol in this course as am keen to learn about anything to do with audio and I would like to find a profession in the sound industry. I'm not too sure what field exactly I'd be most interested in, but I'm sure I'll have figured it out by the end of this course. I guess I'll have to just see where it takes me...

I'm Sam Lewis, 19 and also studying for my Bachelor of Audio. My experience prior to Hope Sick was pretty much exclusively electronic music production with a bit of recording and mixing engineering. I'd never really thought to much about working on films before this, so Hope Sick was a pretty new experience but I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to work on more films in the future.

During the filming days, Sam and Tawona worked as Assistant Sound and Production Sound Mixers, recording the shot audio, foley where necessary, and managing the microphones and levels, during which Matthew worked with the director on the score for the film. After picture lock, the three of us met up over a couple of studio sessions to cover the audio post production.
