This trimester I have been set out to increase my skills as an Environment/Texture artist and to deliver a vertical slice for my upcoming major project "The Aftermath".
The Aftermath is a 3D animated real-time cinematic, depicting a story of a realistic medieval/fantasy style siege taking place in a medieval setting, where our main character awakes from battle and has to retrace his steps and his memory. The story is a journey of self realisation.
My process begun with understanding the industry standard workflows around my role as a Lead Environment Artist/Lead Texture Artist, the most notable workflow that I have developed over the last few weeks has been the creation of unique and distinct trim sheets and implementing those trim sheets in unreal engine 4.
Throughout the Trimester I created a few small scale projects/assets that showcases this workflow and allows me to further develop my skills as an environment artist.
Exercise 1
Trim Sheet 1 was making a more basic trim sheet and a solid example of the reason why Trim Sheets are used in the Industry in a range of sectors.

Exercise 2
Trim Sheet 2 was a deeper dive into the concept and was vital in getting a much more thorough understanding of trim sheets with having a more complex trimsheet and asset.

With this little collaboration project I handled the retopolgised asset and begun with UVing the model then baking down.
Then completed a series of textures in substance painter and finally have a render in Iray and Marmoset Toolbag 3.
Self-Reflection
This trimester has been a massive learning experience as I have had to tackle the industry standard workflows used in my respective roles this trimester especially with learning the new workflows with Trim Sheets and effective baking techniques.
Overall, I am very eager to push through further with my major production with my team and to strive closer and closer to being a creative industry professional.
