A girl looked into the mirror and she was satisfied with her reflection until her reflection looked back at her in disapproval, shaking her head and criticizing her, by nitpicking at her clothes, touching her hair and even touching her face while looking unhappy. Meanwhile the ‘real’ character appears shocked and disheartened by her reflection mockery. She ended up ignoring her self doubt, get back the confidence and walk away.
The theme is fantasy and this is heavily inspired by the Disney Snow White with the magic mirror. While the evil Queen from Snow White has a magic mirror that boost her self confidence, unfortunately in the real world, a mirror will have the opposite effect, being face-to-face with the imperfection compare to the perfections.
This project is the main project of 20T2, for the Yagan Tower. The main focus of this project was on satisfying a client's demands. Jenny Le and I spent weeks planning, creating the assets for, and animating. We originally had the idea of a fantasy land including typical fairytale characters such as Peter Pan and Rapunzel. In the end, we decided on the idea that can be seen above. A girl and her 'evil' mirror, which tries to mock her and ultimately fails. I'm personally very proud of it despite the majority of my efforts going into the animation and pre-production. We used rubber-hose for the animation of the limbs.
Reflecting on this project, I'm very happy with it, even if I felt I simply didn't have enough of a part in it. I did greatly enjoy my parts, but it didn't feel balanced. Spending months making sure that Zeppo was happy and that our work met the specifications of the Yagan Tower. Of course, a video file smaller than 2 gigabytes for a 2 minute animation isn't hard to make so long as it's an MP4. The specifications of the screen were a rather interesting thing to fit to - 1952 x 896 pixels. It left us with a lot of negative space to fill with a scene. The bedroom fit the idea very well and the mirror itself filled in a lot of blank space.

Here is an example of my rather simple motion graphics specialisation work. I created a character, used rubber hose for her arms and legs, and the puppet pin tool for her hair. I'm very new to motion graphic animation and still learning but I do quite enjoy it. Learning motion graphics and specifically character design and animation within motion graphics.
These girls were all created for the Yagan project, and then scrapped and turned into specialisation work.
This character I made specifically for specialisation, and I animated him, which you'll be able to see below.
This demon-esque character was an idea I came up with on the fly. I was testing out how to make a decent looking jump/cheer animation.
