In a broad sense, 2020 has been the worst year in recent memory. There's quite often negativity when you turn on the news, open your phone or engage in small talk with someone. I designed Good Mood to be an antithesis to the current state of the world right now and a place were readers could go and give their mind a rest from everyday life. I wanted to create an experience that felt like an escape and encouraged people to put their phone down and relax.
The contents of this magazine spans a wide variety of features from good news articles, interviews with people worth listening to, lists and aesthetic images, while the topics span from local stories, mental health, global triumphs, advice and music.
From a stylistic sense, the magazine took influence from such design movements as Post-Modernism and Swiss, with calming pastel's and easy going typography.
Good Mood magazine is the perfect read for those in their 20's to early 30's or anyone in a transitional part of their life. It will hopefully provide a release of good endorphins and provide hope in an uncertain world.
