The story is essentially a struggle with one's inner self, and facing issues head-on, which we see through the dialogue between Samuel and Samantha, the two parts to a whole. Samuel, an up and coming, yet struggling artist, is having a complete creative block on one of his recent commissions, which he has now had for a whole month. With the deadline quickly approaching and being completely out of ideas, Samuel’s anima, the feminine subconscious of a man, Samantha appears, trying to convince him to leave the house as a way to find new inspiration. Samuel, initially ignoring her, as he knows she’s just in his head, and not a real person finally begins to discuss why he is staying inside, to begin with. After Samantha persists with telling him to go outside, Samuel tries to shut her out again by continuing his work, until she finally asks why this one painting has him so riled up. Hearing this Samuel explains it’s about his reputation as an artist, but Samantha isn’t convinced, asking him why he became an artist, to begin with. Finally remembering his passion for art, he decides to go outside, and Samantha finally leaves.
