Florasaurs is about bringing fragile and ferocious together. Wildflowers and dinosaurs have very little in common besides being billions of years old and captivating audiences with both beauty and intrigue.
Florasaurs is aimed to give viewers a mesmerising experience by showing how opposites can harmonise into stunning pieces of art encouraging the audience to explore the new WA museum and its dinosaur exhibit as well as to seek out the true hidden treasures of WA; The wildflowers and their many locations around the state.

Process
First I draw the dinosaur head via Illustrator then open the head with Photoshop to add the texture detail.
Once the head has been made I return to Illustrator and with the use of the rotate tool I duplicate the heads in preparation for the final mandala. Once I achieve this I can use the same heads in the opposite direction to create another layer for my mandala.
Once I have my Dino ready I drag my Banksia flower into illustrator and prepare to repeat the rotate tool.
Once I have completed the steps shown above I am able to compile the mandala, The final result depends entirely on what angle I choose each rotation to be at, In this case I mainly rotated each component to 45º which allows the rotating element to meet cleanly with the first instalment
I found this process very satisfying as you never know how it will look until you position it all together, Mandalas are a very useful technique when it comes to layout design.
Flower Creation
For the flower elements I was lucky enough to utilise some of the photos my Grandad had taken on his many trips around the state, these were extremely useful in the process of this project as I was allowed to use them without any copyright issues giving me a lot of creative freedom.
First I placed my Grandads photograph into Illustrator.
I then select image trace > 6 colours. This turns the pixel image into a vectorgraph which is much cleaner and precise then an Image and is a higher quality.
Once Imaged traced I select "Expand" which allows me to break up the newly formed vector making it possible to recolour each segment making it more vibrant.
Collaborative Work
For our interdisciplinary work we were introduced to Audio students who we presented our ideas to in order to work with to produce a music track for our motion graphic. I was lucky to be selected by Darcy May and Shaine Pereira who made an awesome track that works incredibly well with my final result.
For Darcy and Shaine this project was a breeze as they successfully completed the track in one session and I was blown away by the results. The only adjustments that needed to be made were lowering the volume to meet the Yagan clients requirements, other than this it was the ideal track I was looking for.
Below is the track I was blessed with:

Deliverables
In conjunction of the posters and motion graphic I was tasked with creating collateral mockups for my Florasaurs project. The main ideas I had were creating things such as:
T shirts
Face masks
Drinks Coasters
Frisbees
Badges
Below are some of the mock ups I made:
