Our brief for this project was "Hidden treasures of WA". For this project, we were tasked with creating a motion graphic for Yagan Tower in Raine square, four A3 posters and an Infographic, all on the theme of WA. I was inspired by WA's bush and aquatic landscapes and the flora and fauna they contain. My goal was to showcase these unique landscapes by creating a fantastical, almost alien combination of the two. The focus of this studio was developing skills in Image making and motion graphics.

Above is a sketch of my idea when I first came up with the idea of using WA bush landscape and underwater landscape together. There are many parts from this original sketch that made it into my final product and lots that didn't but overall this sketch is what helped me solidified my idea so that I could start on actually creating my project.
Imagery: My imagery was inspired by Native WA animals, plants/flowers and corals that I had found during my research.
Colour palette: My colour palette is a range of bright and vibrant colours. My colour palette is inspired by the colourful animated videos of the youtube channel "KurzgesagtāInaNutshell".
Visual style: My chosen visual style is simplistic with lots of textures and rounded shapes. I used layering and drop shadows to add more depth. The style uses lots of clear shapes and lots of both thick and thin lines both straight and curvy. My visual was inspired by the artist Meier Delphine.
I started the process of creating my different assets by first sketching them out in my chosen visual style. I also did some coloured drawings based on my sketches which also worked as a test to see what program I would use to create my assets and what tools. These drawings showed me that using the brush tool in Photoshop wasn't going to work as I couldn't get the clean lines I wanted to so instead I switched over to Illustrator and the pen tool.
Over time I made a few important changes to my asset designs like adding more texture to everything, adding more detail to somethings and using drop shadows to create better depth and create an almost paper cut out style.
I've come a long way from my first screen test.
I used every screen test to gather and apply feedback in order to improve my project.
My assets were greatly improved upon, by adding texture and drop shadows.
Added more and different assets to better fill in the space.
Made better use of hierarchy.
I used colour hue/saturation to make my piece brighter and contrast better.
Added animation making my piece feel alive.
Added clouds to my background to make it more dynamic.
