The Project
The main objective of this project is to create a visual campaign to promote Perth treasures using illustrations that include popular landmarks of Perth. These four places include Fremantle, Chinatown, Kings Park and Rottnest Island.
My art styles are influenced by using the photo bashing montages method and creating a symmetrical art piece from foods, activities, and places of interests from my chosen locations.
Inspirations
Living in Perth for close to 15 years now, I have to say we are one of the best states in Australia. Filled with beautiful sceneries, animals, cultures and arts, we have so much to boast about.
My art inspirations are based on one of Perth well-known street artist - Melski, her works are often based on repetitions, rhythm and bright contrasting colours. Your eyes are just drawn to her work straight away.
Also, I wanted to do something different and using the idea of symmetrical design to illustrate my artwork of the popular spots in Perth.

TARGET AUDIENCES
MY FIRST FEW DRAFTS - TRIAL AND ERROR STAGE
Researching and sourcing online images on activities and things that best describe these landmarks accurately. For example Kings Park - When you think of Kings Park, you imagine the thousands of different flora and fauna that lives there and also the famous Anzac Monument that is the main stage of Kings park.
This stage involved placing multiple images together forming a hierarchal structure that is aesthetically pleasing.
Started off drawing everything with "Happy HB Brush" + "15 pts" brushstroke size in photoshop
Found every element to be drawn way too thick, and it needed to be fixed to thinner brushstrokes
The whole drawing process took me 6 hours for drawing all 4 portraits
Finding colours for these images is one of the biggest challenges for me, as it took multiple trial and errors to find colour combos that work right together. These include spending hours researching Behance, Pinterest and Google Images.
I've decided to also remove the ice cream in the Rottnest image as I feel like it wasn't making much impact on the image
The mistake I've encountered during this stage of the processes was drawing and colouring everything on 1 layer. As results, it had created lots of headache for me before the animation processes in After Effects.
I had to redraw and recolour everything in different layers, which took me another 8 hours.
The final product after weeks of redrawing and recolouring, I have to say I was impressed with the final product that turned out. I am very proud of my artwork and have learnt a lot from my lecturer, peers and also myself over the past 13 weeks in this course.
