Studio 2 | A Quiet World

Our project is called ‘A Quiet Place’. It is an animated short made for the Yagan Tower that will premiere at the SAE Student Showcase that centres on a dystopian urban fantasy environment with a day to night time-lapse. The short contains themes referencing the pandemic and social isolation.

Kerri-lyn Turner (Concept designer/ 2D asset animator)

I'm Kerri-lyn Turner, for this trimester I worked on the Yagan Square animation "A Quiet World" where my main focuses were towards 2D animated assets. I with programs like Roughanimate to create the tree and bird assets in an animated loop to be imported into the final product.

Tara Turpin (Concept artist / 2D Character Designer and Animator)

I'm Tara Turpin, and I am the character animator, as well as one of the concept artists for 'A Quiet World'. I worked in Photoshop and After Effects to provide the animation for one of the main aspects of our short, that being the girl, as well as incorporate the majority of the pre-development visuals that shaped the appearance of the final product over the course of production.

Molly O' Connor (Concept artist and VFX Animator)

I'm Molly O' Connor, and I am a 2D animator primarily focused on motion graphics and using after effects to create interesting and compelling animations. For 'A Quiet World', I was concept artist throughout the pre-production stage, and did the VFX and environmental animation (lighting and effects), as well as helped with compositing the majority of the animated assets together. I was also responsible for the timelapse animation that plays a huge part in 'A Quiet World' and its narrative.

Zenya Augustin (Music composer, Interdisciplinary Collaborator)

I'm Zenya Augustin, and I composed the music that plays over the animation in 'A Quiet World'. My aim for my music is to create a safe, positive environment for everyone to feel confident to discuss and ask anything that they are unsure about without anything negative. All the information at their fingertips. Being through this personally, and struggling, I wanted to make it easier for the producer of tomorrow, as the journey can be defeating, but it doesn't have to be.
