Duck Project

The subject of this piece is two bufflehead ducks that are in part of their natural habitat. In order to make this, I sketched out what I was going to draw, and then used oil pastels to color everything in. I must have used about 5 tortillons to blend the ducks and water. I choose to draw these ducks because out of all the options I was given, these had the most character and in my opinion, were the most pretty.

I arranged this artwork to make everything balanced and not "un-even" I used blending throughout the whole piece also. Unfortunately, I had to cut out my first ducks I had drawn and glue them on to a new background, because I did not like my original piece.

The meaning behind this artwork is to try to promote habitat security to species like the Bufflehead ducks Their land is being taken from them and many species will end up endangered if it continues this way. If anything coud be stronger in this piece, it would be more land and less water because the whole point of this piece was to promote land, which I did not do very well.
