I am calling this piece "Candle Holder", because it is going to be used for exactly that. I based this off of other candle pots I have seen in stores and craft shops. It is the perfect size for a votive candle. I chose to make this because I was in need of something to hold a candle so that wax did not get all over the place as it melted. I used white clay and a carving tool to make this piece. In order to make the pot smooth, I had to use the scratch and smooth technique. While creating this piece I paid close attention to the height of the pot, I did not want to make it too high-so that the proportion of candle to pot is not off. To add interest to my composition, I made many types of designs and marks in the pot-to keep it exciting. I like the color glaze I used, it is upbeat and calming. However, I struggled with making the glaze cover the entire pot, I missed the insides of a few carved holes. If I could make another project like this, I would fill in the holes with glaze so that everything is covered.
