"Disappearing Act"

ARTIST STATEMENT

This image was fun to make. I got this idea from a picture online and tried to create it the best I could. I was looking around for puddles, but since we haven't had rain recently I was out of luck. I wanted to see how the tides were down by the marina so I headed down there. I was going to have to stand in the water to get the best angle and that was my main problem. Instead my subject and I thought of this dock idea so neither of us were going to have to stand in the water. I really like how this image turned out with its leading lines and rule of thirds. The docks in the back ground don't quite pull your attention away from the focal point, but they provide a background more interesting than just open sky or ocean. I liked the idea of the subject and water being at the same level, but I had to make do with what I had. Overall I'm very pleased with how this image turned out and I plan on refining it and doing it again in the future.
