ARTIST STATEMENT:
The setting of these images are all different due to the person. They have the same overall guidelines, but individually differ. For each of the character images I asked the subject to show their character. To show me who they are as a person. For the sculptural images I requested that the subject relax their facial expression and stare straight down the barrel of the camera. Lastly with the environmental images, I wanted to show the subjects place of work such as the woman in the office setting or the man outside by the wood pile. I also wanted to represent self interest such as the last environmental picture with the boy looking through the "shutter" showing his love in photo and videography. For these images I tried to use rule of thirds because I believed it made the image interesting, but still simple so the viewer would focus on the subject more than anything in the background. I edited all of these photos at least a little bit, changing color and lighting and even making one black & white. I think these images could definitely be stronger if I could have given more time to editing them. I always search for meaning behind the image and I found great meaning behind all of these images. With character and in the sculptural images the viewer can very much focus on just the subjects face and facial expression which is where they will find the most meaning.
