WRITTEN REFLECTION

You can see in this concentration that I've added different pictures whereas last time they were mostly steel wool. My concentration changed a little bit and I really tried to show my experimentation with light. My goal was to express all of the ways that light could affect an image, not just photographing light itself. If you look at my photogram you can see all of the things I did to the transparency paper to block light and change the way the print turned out. I also demonstrate the effects of light in my "Home" picture when I blocked light to cast that shadow on the wall. I think this semester I became a lot more creative when it came to my concentration because of the different approaches i took.

The most challenging was coming with all these different ways to show the effects of light. I used steel wool, shadows, reflection, blocking it on a transparency, I got don to very few options so coming up with more became a problem.

I'm most proud all of the ways I found. I have to say out of the pictures above, I'm most proud the "Home." The image took a lot of creativity which ended up being really fun to make, and it took a lot of preparation. That was all before I even took the picture. Taking the picture took a lot of moving the lamp up and down and all around, but eventually I figured it out and it came out pretty well. Overall, I'm most proud of the creativity I used in making this concentration.

Between my last concentration and this one I see a lot of strength in the approaches to the images. A lot of that has to do with my improvement on composition like I mentioned in my Breadth written reflection. A weakness of mine would be not finding enough different ways to capture light. I really would have liked to only have one steel wool image in my concentration rather than half of them. It is a great improvement from my last concentration, but I still would have liked to reduce the amount of that specific type of picture.
