"Melting away"

ARTIST STATEMENT

In this image I wanted to show the effects the sun had on what was under it. My first thought was the classic dropped popsicle or ice cream cone, but when I didn't have a popsicle and like ice cream too much to waste it, I landed on ice. I tried to use a freeze pop, but the plastic wrapping wasn't very appealing to the eye. The ice melted very well and left a great trail of water leading off of the rock. I like the rule of thirds in this image because it gives the image just enough of an interesting aspect to not be boring. I kept the grass showing at the top and bottom of the picture for the same reason. I didn't take the picture from directly above the ice and not level, I crouched down and got it at an angle so the viewer could the water trail and all of the ice along with the grass. If I had more time I would want to try this same image with my melted popsicle idea. Although the black & white would take away the color of the popsicle, I think it could turn out very well.
